MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES BY H.GARDNER
We are informed that Barak Obama has an IQ of 154, probably according to a standard intelligence test scale such as the Stanford-Binet Scale, which tests intelligence across areas of verbal, quantitative, abstract / visual reasoning, and short-term memory. Despite there being hundreds of on-line sites offering to test or improve your IQ, the problem is that there is no universally agreed definition of intelligence. You may be a whiz at maths but have difficulties relating to people, parking a car or ironing a shirt. What we can say though, is that people think and learn in different ways, and our teaching should take account of differing aptitudes, learning styles and mental processing among our students.

INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF FORESTS, 2011
The International Year of Forests, 2011 offers a unique opportunity to raise public awareness of the challenges facing many of the world’s forests and the people who depend on them.
Great success stories and valuable lessons on how to
promote sustainable forest management already exist.
The Year provides a means of bringing those voices together and building momentum towards greater public participation in forest activities around the world.

MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY IN USA
This video talks about how Martin Luther King Day (which is tomorrow in the USA - Monday Jan. 17) was changed from simply a US Federal Holiday where you "take the day off" to a National Day of Service were people across the country are challenged to engage in a project and volunteer to give back to others and hopefully make a lifelong commitment to service. One of the people on the video says "our country was built on service, we didn't wait for local, state, or national government, we came together as a people, and just did it."

WebQuest
What is a WebQuest?
A WebQuest is in essence a mini-project using authentic language and carefully staged steps, which, as learners work through them, reach pre-set goals and work towards the production of original output, which is finally cemented of a presentation of some kind. This, the participants will have arrived at by means of navigating the Web, while involved in a variety of skill enhancing activities.
If you find that you would much rather build one yourself, you will also find information leading you to that possibility on the same page:
For a different focus, and a more thorough look at an across the curriculum approach, the following link to San Diego University where it all began, is probably one of the best places to start:

LOOKING FOR PARTNERS (eTWINNING Project)
Our idea, was to make a two-year project. The first year would be only between teachers who agree and want to increase their emotional intelligence. For us, emotional intelligence consists of two types of intelligence, intrapersonal and interpersonal. Intrapersonal: what we think of ourselves and how we affect our emotions and feelings, how we react to interactions with others when they are emotionally positive and negative. The question is: is this a universal phenomenon? Do other teachers in other countries, think it is important to their daily work with students? Can we improve this intelligence?
This intelligence would also connected to our own self. That is, is it true that react according to the behavior of others toward us? If the answer is yes, this means it is easy to lose control before our students shared situations that arise in the classroom, especially those behaviors that disrupt the normal development of a class. We can react badly, for example, angry or manage this type of adverse events without our influence on mood, I mean, without losing your sense of humor.
We have the experience that the students themselves do not behave the same way with a teacher than another and that is closely related to the attitude of individual teachers. Does this have to do with emotional intelligence? What do you think?
On the other hand, a second year or second project could be about how we can increase the emotional intelligence of our students. Teach them to have greater control over their emotions and, above all, about their reactions to the feelings and emotions that cause the behavior of others towards them.

These are our preliminary ideas. We would like to share with you and to take forward a project. We are willing to share your own ideas and reach agreement on how to make a common project.
